30 years of experience!
In 2009 it reaches its 30th Anniversary worldwide and celebrates 15 years of operation in the UK. Almost 13,000 students attend weekly classes in all areas of the UK. Our largest branch in Northern Ireland currently has 1200 students attending classes each week. Classes cover speech, movement, creative drama, language development and studio productions. They are great fun!
Developing children’s confidence and verbal communication skills!
The Bercow Review in August 2008 highlighted the requirement of the education system to focus on improving the language and communication skills of young students. John Bercow MP said:
“The ability to communicate is an essential life skill for all children and young people in the 21st century. It is at the core of all social interaction. With strong communication skills, children can engage and thrive. Without them children will struggle to learn, achieve, make friends and interact with the world around the
m.”
The Helen O’Grady system is totally focussed on addressing these social and educational concerns. The curriculum taps into the natural interest children have in drama and helps them develop into confident, articulate young people, more able to succeed in later life.
There has never been a better time to become involved!
In our modern world, when young people rely so much on technology to communicate using texts, emails and social networking sites, it is crucial we nurture our children’s confidence to allow them to hold their heads up, speak clearly and present themselves well in all situations. Principals worldwide have the support of schools and parents and demand for classes is growing.
An interest in and an enthusiasm for drama is far more important than formal drama training. You will need to have experience and a love of working with children. All territories are exclusive. With good teaching, smart administration and excellent marketing and promotion the possibilities are endless.
An investment in the future!
Principals gain great sa
tisfaction from starting and developing their own successful business. They enjoy the freedoms working from home can bring and they enjoy a healthy income even in these trying financial times. This is because parents realise they are investing in their children’s future by sending them to Helen O’Grady classes. The children come to have fun, to make new friends and to use their skills in a creative way. Parents acknowledge the classes help develop children’s confidence, self esteem and verbal communication skills, standing them in good stead for whatever they choose to do in life.
Here’s what parents say:
“Becky's dad and I would like to say her involvement in Helen O'Grady has been instrumental in giving her confidence and pride in her development. We'd like to thank you for playing a positive part in her childhood."
“Just a quick note to say how proud we were watching Joey perform and how grateful we were to you for the good start you have been giving him in drama. We could hear every word he said and that is down to you!"
What our Principals say:
“This term we have had three children enrol as a direct result of a recommendation from schools. In all instances the children were shy and lacked confidence and the class teacher advised the parents to contact the Academy. Seeing these children develop over just the first few weeks of term reinforces my reasons for becoming a Helen O’Grady Principal.”
Lindsay, Principal, York
“The ideas constantly coming from Head Office are brilliant. It is good to have someone there regularly to bounce my own ideas off. I feel very lucky to have the wonderful back up at Helen O’Grady which others are jealous of and this will get me through any tough financial times which may inevitably lie ahead!”
Angela, Principal, North West Ireland
