Cumbrian Mum’s Snug Carrier Is Must Have Baby Accessory
Claire Willis, from Carlisle in Cumbria, who runs her own home business has entered the 2010 Remote Worker Awards, in association with BT Business, and hopes to achieve national recognition if she wins.
Claire's business, SnugBaby, was created after she was unable to find a suitable baby carrier that met the needs of her and her baby son. After being approached in the street by strangers asking where they could get a sling like Claire's, she decide to set up a business making and selling them to new mums across the UK. Through SnugBaby, SnugBaby successfully combines style with functionality and the slings are fast becoming a must-have baby accessory, even used by celebrities such as Sara Cox, and her baby daughter, Renee.
While there are a number of baby carriers available in the UK, Claire has been congratulated on the unique design of her baby carriers, which feature a self-adjusting seat area. This allows it to be comfortable for babies of all ages. The bottom area of the main body of the sling can be cinched to be narrower, and more comfortable, for smaller babies, or kept wide to allow it to be supportive enough to carry a toddler.
Quality lies at the heart of the SnugBaby philosophy and Claire is proud that all her baby carriers are tested to and approved by the British Standard for baby carriers – one of the few in the UK to hold the mark.
Claire entered this award to highlight the hard work and long hours she has spent building up her home-based business. She said: “It would be great for SnugBaby to gain national recognition. Working from home, and choosing our own hours gives mums, who may struggle to find suitable child care, an excellent way of earning an income whilst being able to spend quality time with their family.”
Award winning website, Remote Employment, Google’s No 1 job site for flexible and home based jobs, launched The Remote Worker Awards in association with BT Business to highlight how home working and remote working benefits the British public and their working life.
